Assembly of Chakavian Poetry was established in Žminj on the 8^th of May 1969, originally intended as a cultural-scientific manifestation, which would mainly deal with the issues regarding Chakavian poetry.

Cere, Žminj

The Church of St. Matthew is located in Cere, 5.5 km southeast from the municipal centre of Žminj. It was built in 1630 while its front porch was erected in 1698.

The Church of Saint Anthony the Abbot was built in 1381 by a master called Armitigus, as evidenced by the Gothic stone inscription on the front part of the church.

Church of Saint Mary Major

Majka Božja Od Svetomora, Žminj

About 3.5 km south of Žminj lies the Church of Saint Mary Major (from the Italian Santa Maria Maggiore). It is dedicated to Mary’s Annunciation and was probably built during the 12^th century.

St. Michael's Church

Sveti Mihovil Arkanđel, Žminj

Žminj’s Parish Church of St. Michael is located at the top of a hill and was built in the middle of a former fort (the so-called “kaštel”, castle).

St. Bartholomew's Church

Crkva sv. Bartola, Žminj

The church was erected in the 16^th century at the western entrance to Žminj. It is of rectangular form, without an apse. The front of the church is adorned with a bell gable with a single bell, while a stone holy water font can be found on the right side of the entrance.

Cere Folklore Society is the oldest one in Istria, founded in 1945.

Sveto Trojstvo, Žminj

Built in the 15^th century, it is a simple Gothic church, located in the northern part of the Parish Church of St. Michael the Archangel. It is interesting to notice that it was once a detached church inside the Žminj Castle.

Crkva sv. Foška, Žminj

The oldest church in Žminj region, built in the 6^th century during Byzantine times. It is located 1.5 km east of Žminj, on a hill on the right side of the road leading to Pićan.
