Enjoy the flavours and aromas of traditional cuisine! "Šetemana od pašte" (Pasta week) takes place in Žminj restaurants and taverns. Different traditional homemade pasta dishes can be tasted from September 25 to October 3, at a promotional price of 90.00 kn.

The Story of Žminj

The Story of Žminj has been taking place in Žminj for the last six years on Wednesdays, from July to September, starting at 10 AM. A licensed guide dressed in traditional Cere folklore costume (costume of the oldest Istrian folklore society) takes local and foreign guests on a one-hour free tour of Žminj’s old town.

Accordions Behind the Castle

If you ever pass near Žminj on the second Saturday in July, then you should not miss our traditional meeting of Istrian self-taught accordion players, named “Armonike zad Kaštela”, but unofficially people call it “Armonikin pir”, which would mean “The Wedding of Accordions”.

Žminj's fair

First fair of the year was held on February 13^th, then August 24^th and later on November 11^th. Later the fair was held at St. Matthew’s in Cere, throughout the whole year. It always attracted a large number of local and foreign visitors.

According to the oral tradition, the intersections of roads were places where mythical beings gathered and lived and this is why the crossroads (“križine”) are part of this manifestation’s name.

This particular manifestation revealed another peaceful location, surrounded by greenery, and this is the space below the old citadel, known as Spod Kaštela. This green terraced lawn offers a spectacular view and one of the most beautiful sunsets in the heart of Istria.

Istrian Pinca under the Baking Lid

This traditional manifestation is dedicated to “pinca”, a traditional Istrian Easter sweet bread, usually made with raisins. The event is held every year on Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter) at Agritourism Paladnjaki.
