The Civil Protection Headquarters made a Decision on a temporary ban or restriction on crossing the border of the Republic of Croatia.
Passengers coming from green areas of the EU, given the incidence of Covid-19, do not need a PCR test and they don’t need to fulfil additional conditions for entry into the Republic of Croatia. Without testing and self-isolation, entry is allowed for seafarers, workers in the transport sector and transport service providers, diplomats, staff of international organizations, persons traveling for urgent family or business reasons, journalists, passengers in transit, with the obligation to leave Croatia within 12 hours from entry and to patients traveling for necessary medical reasons.
Third-country nationals coming from areas outside the European Union, including neighbouring countries, cannot cross the border crossings of the Republic of Croatia, except in the case of a few exceptions, some of which include the possession of a negative PCR test.
Citizens of the European Union who come from non-Union areas, including neighbouring countries, can cross the border crossings of the Republic of Croatia with a negative PCR test, with the exception of health and border workers, pupils and students.

Dear visitors to Istria,
Due to the unfavourable hydrological situation in the Region of Istria, from Monday, July 18, 2022 the first measures to limit consumption of drinking water will be introduced.
Climate changes significantly affect our lives, but our daily behaviour can influence their negative effects to be significantly reduced. Istria has been without heavy rains for more than a year, so the supply of drinking water is becoming an increasing challenge.
In addition to an invitation to all residents and visitors of Istria to use water rationally, several mandatory reduction measures are being introduced because of the dry period we are currently in.
Ban on the use of drinking water in Istria
refers to the following activities:
- use of showers on the beaches
- vehicle washing (personal, cargo and public transport)
- washing all watercraft (ships, boats, yachts and all other sports and leisure facilities that are not watercraft)
- watering green public and private areas (does not apply to agriculture)
- watering of sports courts/pitches
- washing public areas, streets and squares, except for the areas of markets and fish markets.
A call to save water
We invite you to use water rationally, wherever possible, so that together we can meet the improvement of the hydrological situation on our peninsula more easily.
This call for savings and certain restrictions are preventive measures to ensure a constant and safe supply of drinking water in the coming period. In this way, we can avoid possible problems with water supply caused by force majeure and the introduction of additional measures.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation, in the hope that you will continue to enjoy your holiday and the fun days ahead of you!
Procedure should there be suspicion that a guest in an accommodation facility has COVID-19 disease
Is it possible to book the accommodation in Istria this summer?
Dear Digital Nomads, if you are looking for a place to set up shop away from home, make Croatia your new office!
According to the decision of the Civil Protection Headquarters of Republic of Croatia, about the temporary ban on crossing the state border at the border crossings of the Republic of Croatia, today the decision was complemented with the following information.
The nationals of the members states of the European Union: Czech Republic, Hungary, Republic of Austria, Republic of Estonia, Republic of Latvia, Republic of Lithuania, Republic of Poland, Republic of Slovenia, Federal Republic of Germany and Slovak Republic, due to the convenient epidemiologic situation, will not have to - when entering the Republic of Croatia, specifically prove the reason of their entrance (business, economic, tourist, etc.). They will be allowed to cross the border under the same conditions as it was before the pandemic COVID-19, but with the epidemiologic control and according to all the measures and recommendations of the Croatian Institute for Public Health.
In order to be able to contact the nationals of the member states in Republic of Croatia, due to the epidemiological reasons, on crossing the state border their entrance will be recorded by collecting the additional information (travel destination, mobile phone number and e-mail address).
For all other nationals the measures regarding crossing the state border remain the same and borders are open for foreign citizens that are owners of the real estate in Croatia, owners or members of the board of the company or business activity in Croatia, in case they are invited by the economic operator from the Republic of Croatia due to the business meeting or in case they have to attend the funerary in Croatia or visit a sick person. Also the borders are open for the citizens of member states of the EU/EEA who have booked tourist accommodation in the Republic of Croatia, and have to present the confirmation of accommodation booking in an accommodation establishment to enter the Republic of Croatia.
- Confirmation of accommodation booking of all accommodation service providers / all types of accommodation
- Camp lease contract
- Permanent berth contract in a nautical tourism port
- Confirmation of berth reservation in a nautical tourism port
- Travel agency voucher etc.
With the aim of decreasing the time of crossing the state border which will be extended compared to the previous years, due to the collection of additional information, we recommend to foreign nationals who will travel to Republic of Croatia to send their information in advance via web entercroatia.mup.hr.
The web site has accessible design and is easy to use; it has a form available in Croatian and English to enter all the necessary information, and in the following days, it will be available in other languages (German, Slovenian, Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Polish, etc.)
For all travellers who will send their data via the web it will not be necessary to wait at the cross border, because the information will already be collected in the system. All travellers who will send their information in that way, they will receive at their e-mail address the confirmation of the received announcement and all other information regarding the measures and recommendations of the Croatian Institute for Public Health.
The travellers who will not send their information in advance via the above-mentioned application, they will be able to do that at the border on entering the Republic of Croatia, but it is possible that they will have to wait longer at the border.
Following the information after the third reunion of the Committee for tourism of the Istrian Region, held on May 11th, 2020 we bring you the five reasons when the entrance to Republic of Croatia is possible for foreign citizens - from EU countries and third countries as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
